only two days 'til the big event. will be at the track (all-access passes to boot) so will try to post tomorrow night.
r2: nellie l. this is a very competitive maiden claimer and almost all of these have a right to win. i'm leaning to the recent lewis red-tag as he draws well in the five hole and should get a good trip from right off the pace.
r3: judge jason. like the way this three year old is coming up to this one off two sprint prepres for the underrated steve knapp. jockey switch to tyler won't hurt and 6/1 on the morning line seems more than fair.
r6: proceed with care. i urge you to do the same and proceed with caution on this guy- he's marooned in the 10 hole and may be an underlay with the red-hot doug o'neill. if he's bet down off his morning line, i'd look elsewhere, but north of 9/2 is worth the gamble that he can overcome the poor post.
r7: expresso bay. speed kills on this course and expresso bay should get a gorgeous trip stalking the pace. these route speed types who shorten up generally fare pretty well down the hill and while i anticipate a wall of horses closing in the shadow of the wire, i'll side with 'bay and martin pedroza, who fits this horse's style very well.
good luck.
